Good points, especially about people needing to take a hard look at their own material. I can’t tell you how many people ask me why their show isn’t taking off. All I can do is gaze at the horizon and make up something about the mystical winds of nature.

Our financial success model in 2009 was ‘make yourself famous for free on the internet then charge people to hire you to promote their products/stuff’. While we still have to keep our day jobs – we were able to build relations with Nexon American last year and Toshiba Laptops this year. My advice – don’t just stick your hand out asking for money – make something happen first then think of clever ways to make $$ cause it is out there.

THANK YOU for talking about this! All the Streamy comments about how there is “no money” in web video were completely ignorant. While I’m not about to retire, I too have managed to make a living off what I’m doing online and I’m POSITIVE that there were plenty of people in the audience who have done well (some of the YouTubers have done VERY well, if you do the math of YouTube’s partner program.)

well i gotta say…you are absolutely right. i’ve had an interest in web tv for a sec now….(maybe two even, but i digress…) yet, for as infantile as my potential career is at this point, i know there’s a long haul ahead of me and i’m just not afraid. It’s the sheer love of open creativity and innovation that keeps me in it regardless. This medium is going places and the powers-that-be are scared to death of the inevitable change on the horizon.

You are a pioneer and an inspiration to all us noobs….keep it up!!!
