It's interesting to me how people are using the social networks these days as there are so many of them. But it sounds like you've got a good method in place for keeping everything controlled and not so overwhelming. Although I'm glad I restricted my Facebook friends from the beginning to actual friends rather than people I know. ;) I've been working on my entry on my Social Media Workflow. I may include something like this to go along with it.

This was a really interesting post (mainly because I'm about to post a similar article soon, but from a personal branding side though).

I like how you are attempting to separate your personal relationships from the social network-ish relationships. This is something I take great strides in doing. I will not friend someone on Facebook or LinkedIn unless I actually know them personally (there have been a very few exceptions).

Interestingly enough, I can't remember why I started following you on Twitter, I think I saw someone reply to you and you were having a convo i was interested in. Either way, totally organic and you don't have to worry about a Facebook friend request from me ;-)
