Last night was the long-awaited IAWTV meeting in Los Angeles. It was surprising how little was said by the board of directors considering how many of us have written blog posts about our ideas on where to go from here. An organized board would’ve read those blog posts and come to the meeting with an agenda. Instead, what we got was a “pre-meeting”… and we were told that the “real” meeting will be on June 15th (in NY) and June 17th (in LA). Unfortunately for me, I’ll probably be in Canada.

I’m really busy this week (yay!), so I’m not going to go into details here… instead, I encourage you to listen to the new episode of New Mediacracy that was recorded last night with post-meeting comments from me, Barrett Garese, Brett Register, Chris McCaleb, Rudy Jahchan, Steve Woolf, Tony Valenzuela, and Zadi Diaz.

And, if you’re an IAWTV member, I encourage you to do two things:

Register to give your say on the official IAWTV forums;
Send a message to volunteer some free time to help our organization accomplish something valuable.

I, myself, have registered (pending approval) and volunteered. I think what I’d like to do next is try to help the Executive Director of the board with tech tutorials. It’s time to build this academy with the tools that make our industry so cutting edge and accessible to all.

Last night I was interviewed live on the season finale of The RadNerd Show. Thanks to everyone who tuned in live! It was lots of fun, as you can see in the video, even when I had no idea what was going on! (Note: I wasn’t sure how the Trivia portion worked because I was filling out a release form while they were explaining it to me! :P)

We finally launched season 5 of A Comicbook Orange yesterday and it feels great! I’m dancing around my apartment today like a complete idiot. And, to make a day better, I also just got off the phone about something really exciting… so keep your fingers crossed for me ;)

Also out this week is an interview that Rudy and I did with The Web Files. The interview turned out even better than I thought it would because of the awesome editing! Take a look:

Girls Go Geek Interview

I was interviewed by the lovely Amber Mac on her new show Girls Go Geek. The episode originally aired on XBox 360 in the US and is finally available on the web for all the non XBox users/non-Americans.

It’s a great interview, but I wince every time I hear myself say “Jennie 2.0″ since it’s actually “Jennie 2.5″! Oops…

In an effort to get the word out on my availability as a panelist and speaker, I’ve joined GeekSpeakr. I’ve been consistently disappointed with the lack of female voices at web video conferences and hope that GeekSpeakr’s tagline of “connecting tech women speakers to event organizers” will do just that.

Aside from female voices, however, I also have a lot to contribute in general. As someone who’s been working in web video for the past three years (back before the video iPod even existed, to give you some context), I’ve learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t work in new media. And, frankly, I often feel like watching newbies talk about my field is like watching a car crash in slow motion.
